Christmas at the Gateway for those alone on Christmas Day

18th Dec 2017

A group of local people are giving up their Christmas Day to organise a fantastic Christmas Day Party at the Gateway Club, Kilmorey Street for anyone who might otherwise be alone.

It’s organised by Newry people and it happens because of Newry people who donate dinners, transport, entertainment and their time. Local businesses also contribute to the event.

If you know of anyone who may be spending Christmas Day on their own please make sure they know of this option and the number to contact.

The Bite n Banter team will even organise lifts if necessary.

It’s completely free and open to absolutely anyone of any age who for whatever reason is alone or feels lonely over Christmas. It starts at 1pm with dinner served from 2pm and you can contact the organisers at 07783 671217 or 078 94746940 or email bitenbanter@gmail.com

If you can offer to make an extra dinner or two on Christmas Day and bring it down to the Gateway Club between 12.30 and 1.30pm the team would be very grateful. If you are donating a dinner the organisers ask you to put it on an old plate you no longer need, don't put any gravy on it and wrap it up well.

There will be live music. Great food. Tea coffee, lovely desserts and toys for children too. The only thing there won’t be is photographers or reporters from Newspapers so guests don’t need to worry about their photograph appearing anywhere.

If you would like to volunteer your help with transport or help in any other way you can also

contact them on 07936 300235 or check out their Facebook page You can also check on their Facebook page a list of things they need.
