St. Clare's Abbey worked very hard at the Feis this year. Our children took part in Fireside Singing, Choir,  Creative Music and Individual  poems.

The Fireside Singers were on stage singing "Galway Girl " and “I’ll tell me Ma".

Miss Rocks’ Primary 2 class came first in the Creative Music section with “Plastic in the sea.

Mrs Walsh’s class with “Reuse and Recycle” and Miss Ferguson’s with “The storm and the calm” came joint 2nd.

They
came 1st, winning the Billy Loche cup. This wonderful group of children were the overall winners of Newry Feis with their play and we’re presented with the Newry Reporter Feis Cup.

Ellie Mooney who played Lir won the Kathleen Harrington cup for best actor/actress.

The four girls who were the Seasons in the play: Megan Murphy, Lily Rose O’Hare, Ruby Hughes and Eve Burke won gold medals for their stunning costumes.

The Drama group also won The Newry Reporter Cup, which was given for the highest group mark in the Speech and Drama Section of the Feis.

Individual children worked very hard at their solo poems.

Congratulations to every child who entered the Feis. You were “wonderful” and great ambassadors for St Clare’s Abbey.

Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the children.

Sincere thanks to Miss Duffy for directing the The Children of Lir and for the wonderful costumes.

Thanks also to Mrs Mc Veigh, Mrs O’Hare and Mrs Byrne who assisted on the night of the Children of Lir performance.
