During the month of May the children have been very busy in P2.
In learning through play the children have been considering the phenomenon of light/ darkness and shadows. We have been really lucky with the sun shining which we discovered was really important when exploring shadows. The boys and girls have been trying to figure out how shadows get here, where light and darkness comes from and just simply investigating and asking questions.
In literacy we have been learning about recount writing. The children planted some seeds and then completed a piece of writing including important words: first, next, then and finally. The children are really putting their independent writing skills into practice. They are super at using picture dictionaries, finding a word on a word mat and practising spelling on a whiteboard.
In numeracy the children continue to use skills of adding, subtracting and counting in lots of different scenarios. We have been using money and trying to make amounts within 20p using 1ps, 2ps, 5ps and 10ps.
