St Clare�s Abbey Primary School, Newry

Newry Feis 2023

St. Clare's Abbey worked very hard at the Feis this year children took part in Fireside singing, Choir, Creative music, Choral Speaking and individual poems.

In the Music section of the Feis, The Fireside Singers achieved 1st in their section. They won the Miss Mary Murphy Irish Folk Song Choirs cup. They won the overall cup for Spirit of the Feis. (The Mary Delargy cup). P2 classes who came joint 1st in the creative music section of the Feis. Finally, the School Choir came first in Hymn Singing.

In the Speech and Drama section of the Feis  P3 choral speakers came 1st. They won the WV Hogg Perpetual Challenge cup. P5 Choral Speakers were very successful in coming 2nd in their competition. Primary 7 drama group entered the 15-minute one act play and performed The Happy Prince. They came 1st, winning the Billy Locke cup. Anna Eaton, who played the Swallow won the Kathleen Harrington cup for best actor/actress.

Individual children worked very hard at their solo poems.

 

In Primary 1 Aisling Gribben came 4th place.

In Primary 2 Nina Murphy, Niall Savage, Mya Mc Greevey, Erin Larkin and Phoebe Magee were placed 4th .

In Primary 3 Niamh Williams, Sophie McKernan and Ruby Toshkov came 2ndplace. Caoimhe Murphy came 3rd Christina Marley, Cathal Gribben and Seamus Shields came 4th.

In Primary 4 Abigail Maguire and Katy Mc Kevitt came 4th place.

In Primary 5 Shea Mc Greavey and  Ethan Moore came 4th  place.

In Primary 6 Conor Doran came 3rd place.

The rest of the school was well represented by children who spoke their poem with great understanding and conviction.
