Eco Council Visit to Habitat for Humanity ReStore
Our Eco Council recently enjoyed a very interesting trip to Habitat for Humanity ReStore, where we learned all about recycling, upcycling and reducing waste.
During the visit, pupils discovered how unwanted items can be reused or repurposed instead of being thrown away, helping to protect our environment.
We were shocked to learn just how much rubbish ends up in landfill or is burned every year. Did you know that over 3 million tonnes of rubbish are thrown away in Ireland each year – that’s enough to fill Croke Park completely!
We learned about the importance of maintaining recycled items and saw how a safety PAT test was carried out! The visit really helped us understand the importance of thinking carefully about what we throw away and how small choices can make a big difference.
Our Eco Council left feeling inspired and excited to share their learning with the rest of the school as we continue our journey towards becoming a more sustainable, eco-friendly community. ♻️💚 🌍
