Bat boxes and bird houses
Our P5 pupils have been busy putting their woodworking skills to excellent use this week. With guidance from our Eco Council, the class designed and built a collection of bat boxes and bird houses to support the wildlife around our poly tunnel and Forest School area.
After sawing, assembling, and decorating their creations, the children proudly distributed the finished homes throughout the grounds. Some boxes were placed high in the trees to welcome bats, while others were positioned near the Forest School to give birds a safe and cosy place to nest.
This project has helped P5 learn about local wildlife, biodiversity, and the importance of creating safe habitats. It has also been a brilliant example of teamwork, problem‑solving, and environmental responsibility.
A huge well done to P5 and a big thank‑you to our Eco Council for their leadership and expertise. Our school grounds are now even more wildlife‑friendly thanks to their hard work.
