Death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

The 95-year-old Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away on Saturday at 9:34 AM (Rome time) in his residence at the Vatican's Mater Ecclesiae Monastery. May he rest in peace.

Archbishop Eamon will celebrate Mass for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh on Tuesday 3rd January at 7.30pm.

A book of condolence is now available at Newry Cathedral.

The cathedral bells will toll at 12 noon, 3pm and 6pm until the funeral on Thursday.
