School Council - Feast of St Francis

4th Oct 2023

We had a lovely day celebrating St Francis' Feast day on 4th October. He is one of our school's very special saints and we did lots of nice things to recognise the day:

We heard lots of nice stories about St Francis and his life, including the facts that he was a great friend to St Clare and that he loved spending  simple good time with friends. We were also reminded that he is the patron saint of Ecology because he loved nature and animals so much. When one of our boys told his mummy all about it she showed him a lovely wooden picture of St Francis that they have in their house and allowed him to bring it into school to show to all of us.

  1. We enjoyed an extra long break to play with our friends and enjoyed sweet treats that the school council brought to us.
  2. We also visited our Eco Garden- called St Francis' garden. This Eco garden is only 1 year old and has been created by Mr Meleadey with the help of our children to increase the number of plants and animals finding a safe home in our school forest. We were thrilled to see that frogs have 'moved in' after we installed the new pond.

We think St Francis would have felt very proud of us.
