IZAK 9 in P4 Mrs Cribbin’s class
Our P4 children are enjoying exploring numeracy through the use of IZAK 9, bringing maths learning to life. Using colourful cubes and interactive challenges, the children work collaboratively to develop key skills such as problem-solving, reasoning, counting and number operations. IZAK 9 encourages discussion, teamwork and perseverance, helping pupils to explain their thinking and learn from one another.
The hands-on, visual and collaborative nature of the activities supports a range of learning styles, offering structure and reassurance for those who need extra support while also providing open-ended challenges for higher-attaining pupils. We have been so impressed by the children’s ability to work together, listen to one another and share ideas respectfully. By combining practical play with mathematical language, this approach builds confidence, promotes inclusion and supports all learners in developing a positive attitude towards numeracy.
A P4 pupil shared, “I like IZAK 9 because it feels like a game and it helps me understand maths better when I use the cubes with my friends.”
The children will continue to further develop their numeracy skills through the use of IZAK 9 as they move forward into KS2 next year, building on the strong foundations already established.
