Miss Mallon's class February/ March News

24th Mar 2020

The boys and girls were glad to see the sun out a little in order to continue with Outdoor Play. We have been exploring the concept of “water in containers” in the water area and this had led to lots of discovery, team work and problem solving.

During Literacy work the children have been learning new sounds each week and are becoming more competent at spelling HFW in their writing. We have been completing lots of creative writing, the boys and girls imaginations are so brilliant!

In Numeracy, we have been learning and practising our number bond facts through addition. We have also completed work on time, and measures focusing on length.

Our creativity has developed a lot through our music sessions. We composed a sound story all about Newry, and we chose a wide range of percussion instruments. Our skills of rhythm, timing, counting and following the lead of a conductor have become super. All of the Primary 2 Classes went to Newry Town Hall to compete in Newry Feis. It was an exciting day! We got a plaque and came joint second. Afterwards, we all enjoyed a tasty treat for our hard work!
