NI Water visits P5!
P5 had a fantastic visit from NI Water, who came to teach us all about the water cycle and how to look after our water. We learned how water travels from clouds, to rain, into rivers and back again. It was amazing to find out how important clean water is and how we can help take care of it. What NOT to Flush NI Water explained that things like “flushable” wipes, cotton buds and litter shouldnever be put down the toilet. Even if the packet says flushable, the wipes don’t break down and can:
- block pipes
- cause big smelly clumps called fatbergs
- pollute our rivers and seas
We learned that the toilet is only for the 3 Ps:
Pee, Poo and Paper! Save Water at Home Everyone in P5 got a special 4‑minute shower timer to help us save water. Our challenge is to take a shower before the timer runs out—and save as much water as we can. NI Water reminded us that: “Little drops make huge puddles.” We all left the session excited to help protect our water and our planet!
