October in Mrs Kearney’s Class
In October, we explored new letter sounds and revisited ones we had previously learned. We also began working with high frequency words to support early reading.
In Numeracy, we learned numbers 1 to 4. The children had fun creating numbers using different materials and especially enjoyed making groups of 3/4 using themselves! We discovered that a group of 3 children is called a set of 3 — a fun mathematical term to learn.
We had our first adventure in the “Mud Kitchen” area and are getting quicker at finding and putting on our wellies. In class, we also enjoyed chair yoga and musical movement activities.
As part of our Literacy learning, we had a tea party to celebrate the “T” sound, inspired by The Tiger Who Came to Tea. For the “P” sound, we read Goldilocks and the Three Bears and made porridge — it was delicious, and there were lots of empty bowls!
Please enjoy a little look at our learning journey this month.
