Play Based Learning in Primary 2 Term 1

9th Jan 2026

During Term 1, our Play Based learning has taken the children on a wonderful journey of exploration and discovery. As they looked for signs of autumn, the children delighted in noticing the changing colours of leaves and investigating the treasures found on the forest floor, often sorting and classifying their collections with great focus. In the quarry, their curiosity led them to dig deeply and even experiment with safely burying their legs—an activity that strengthened both their physical coordination and their understanding of spatial awareness. In the Creative Classroom, the joining and connecting area has inspired imaginative model‑making, encouraging problem-solving and fine‑motor skill development. Across all these experiences, children have been building valuable social skills such as cooperation, turn‑taking, and communicating ideas, while also developing confidence in their physical abilities through active, hands-on learning.
