Play Based Learning in Primary 2 Term 2

18th Mar 2026

This term our Play Based learning has centred around investigation, collaboration, and creativity. The children have been exploring bridges and stability, experimenting with a range of materials to discover which ones create the strongest and most secure structures. Outdoors, they have worked together to design and build obstacle courses, developing important physical skills such as balancing, jumping, and squatting, while also learning how to communicate and cooperate as a team. In the forest, many children have enjoyed making dens by pegging fabrics to the fence and using sticks, which has not only strengthened their problem‑solving and construction skills but also inspired rich imaginative play. Meanwhile, in the Creative Classroom, there has been a great deal of exploration with clay, giving children the opportunity to learn how this malleable material can be shaped, pressed, and transformed. Across these experiences, the children are building confidence, strengthening fine and gross motor skills, and nurturing their social skills as they learn through play.
