Feast of St Blaise

Very few facts are known about St. Blaise. It is believed he was a bishop in Armenia and was martyred in the early 4th century. Many Catholics remember St. Blaise’s feast day because of the blessing of throats that take place on this day.

St. Blaise is the patron saint of physicians, cattle and wild animals. His intercession is invoked against afflictions of the throat.
