Relax Kids Week 11

Dear Parents/ Carers and Children   

 

Welcome everyone to this weeks Relax Kids, and I hope some of you are enjoying some of our benefits.💜🌈 I also hope you all are enjoying Sports Week 🏃‍♀️⚽️☀️

 

I would like to add Deep Breathing ( 5th step ) back to Relax Kids this week as I am aware some children are feeling anxious, upset and stressed.

 

What is Deep Breathing?

 

Deep breathing is like a super power and when we take long deep breaths it helps us to calm down our nervous system. It also brings energy to the respiratory system by allowing fresh oxygen to our whole body. Your body and mind will start to feel calmer and you will increase your ability to think more clearly.

 

Breathing techniques help children feel calm and gives them tools to manage their emotions.💜🌈

 

In all breathing exercises we breathe in through our nose and out through our mouth.

 

Concentrate on slowing your breathing down. The slower the breath the more relaxed and calm we feel.

 

 

Belly Breathing - Practice a few times throughout the day.

 

Imagining you are breathing into your tummy. Lie down and put your hand ( or a teddy ) on your tummy, and as you take in a deep breath in through your nose, feel your tummy rising upwards. As you breath out through your mouth, feel your tummy falling. Continue with tummy breaths and notice how you feel more and more relaxed and peaceful.😁💜🌈😴

 

 

It is important to teach your child this technique when they are feeling calm, maybe as a bedtime routine or at the start of the day. So when they are feeling anxious or stressed, they can use this powerful tool to help them feel calm and relaxed.

 

Please pop this tool in your tool kit boys and girls to help you when you are not feeling great and when you would like to feel calm.
